Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist / Physiotherapist – Enfield Wheelchair Service

Enfield Wheelchair Service (EWS) provides a vital, fully NHS‑funded service supporting people of all ages who live with long‑term mobility needs. We are passionate about our community, proud of our team, and dedicated to delivering a service that puts people first.

We foster a culture where staff are trusted, supported, and empowered to make decisions, think creatively, and work collaboratively. If you’re motivated by meaningful work and want to be part of a proactive, supportive team, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our established, skilled and forward‑thinking multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will play a key part in driving high‑quality wheelchair provision across the borough and ensuring our service users receive personalised, effective mobility solutions.

This is a role where your clinical expertise genuinely makes a difference every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will act as a highly specialist clinician, managing a caseload of medium, high and very specialist‑need service users. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading comprehensive clinical assessments and prescribing wheelchairs and specialist seating tailored to individual needs.
  • Carrying out assessments in weekly clinics, during home visits, and in community settings as appropriate.
  • Working independently and alongside Rehabilitation Engineers and Specialist Seating Engineers to find solutions for complex mobility needs.
  • Serving as a key point of contact for service users, responding proactively to concerns, and triaging issues to ensure timely and effective resolutions.
  • Travelling to community appointments using the wheelchair service vehicles (a full UK driving licence is required).

About You

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • An excellent communicator who builds strong, positive relationships with colleagues, service users, and partners.
  • Highly organised with strong prioritisation skills and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A proactive problem‑solver with a flexible, innovative approach to meeting service user needs.
  • Experienced in wheelchair services or relevant clinical areas, with a sound working knowledge of mobility equipment and postural management.
  • Confident, well‑organised, and skilled in negotiation and clinical decision‑making.

We would be delighted to speak with you or welcome you for a visit to meet the team and learn more about the service.
